A research paper by Professor Jason Dykes and Dr Jo Wood of City’s giCentre has been included in The Map Reader: Theories of Mapping Practice and Cartographic Representation – a Wiley compendium which brings together some of the classic articles on mapping since the Second World War.

The Department of Journalism at City has hosted a series of timely events over the past fortnight. The first, Beyond the Paywall: how are we going to pay for quality journalism in a digital world?, saw a panel of distinguished speakers tackle the issue of whether and how the public should pay for online news. The second, Libel: the long slow road to reform, was the annual Anthony Sampson lecture delivered by The Guardian‘s Editor Alan Rusbridger to examine the snail’s pace of change in defamation laws.
City University London’s Saddlers Sports Centre will be closing on Thursday 30 June 2011 as part of a two year redevelopment of the site.
The Vision for City in 2016 and the development of the Strategic Plan to achieve it were discussed at the Vice-Chancellor’s Open House on 10 May 2011.
