City University London’s Saddlers Sports Centre will be closing on Thursday 30 June 2011 as part of a two year redevelopment of the site.
The planned redevelopment will result in a much-improved City University London Sports Centre with a high quality six-court sports hall, a 100 station fitness area, improved and spacious changing facilities, four multi-purpose studios, separate team changing areas and a cafe. There will also be full disabled access and the venue will provide a valuable resource for the University’s students, staff, alumni and members of the public.
The University is pleased to announce that it trying to secure preferential rates with several local providers of health and fitness for its students, staff and alumni during the interim period. More information on this will be available in due course.
Sports and leisure activities will continue to be provided directly for members of the University, including well-being classes. The University’s bid to introduce a pan-University intramural sports programme, ‘Intra-City’, has received over £116,000 in funding from Sport England, which will enable more students and staff to participate in sport. This programme will launch at the start of the next academic year in September 2011.
