Professor Heather Brooke named champion of open internet

City University’s visiting Professor of Journalism Heather Brooke has been named in The Guardian’s Open 20 champions of open internet.

Heather Brooke was instrumental in the legal actions which exposed MPs’ abuse of their expenses system. During her research into hacker culture and online activism, Brooke obtained the WikiLeaks embassy cables and was one of the journalists working on the project.
