TED team blog for SEMS/SoI at City University London
SEMS Technology Tasters
The TED team ran well-attended sessions in April for the four main disciplines in SEMS: Civil Engineering; Electrical, Electronic & Information Engineering; Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering; and Mathematics. The sessions were structured around the presentation of 5 technologies in the 4 broad categories of Feedback, Research, Assessment and Resources, with one that spans all of these. Each was followed by a period to talk about the technology presented and these were lively and produced some very interesting discussion.
The specific technologies were:
- Feedback – SCOF
- Research – ‘Social’ Bookmarking
- Assessment – Wiris Computational Quizzes
- Resources – ‘Quick’ Audio/Video
- All of the Above – Edublogs (the platform supporting this blog!)
The sessions were very well-received and the discussion provided food for thought for both the lecturers in the room and the TED team. A handout providing an overview of other technologies was also provided to attendees, and both the slides and the handout are available below. We would be interested to hear anyone’s experience with using any of these tools in a learning and teaching context.
