Guest post by Nicola Daniel: The Technology & Educational Development (TED) team led this month’s forum presenting and discussing various tools in use within SoI and other Schools.

The session started off with a ‘pecha kucha’ (20×20), headed by Matt Lingard – a presentation format which illustrated twenty ideas in twenty seconds, highlighting the work TED currently do.

Use of Audio & Video for Teaching & Assessment

Flipped learning – student given materials (pre-video lecture, for example) to look at outside of the lecture so that those materials can then be discussed back in the teaching room; enabling the session to become more interactive.

Lecture Capture – an audio/visual recording to enhance and extend existing instructional activities   Benefits include, an alternative when students miss lectures, an opportunity for content review and content for online course development.
