Google Analytics

We have added Google Analytics to the entire www.city.ac.uk website. Previously this had been running in the School of Arts web portfolio along with the City homepage. Google Analytics will wholly replace our existing NedStat package at some point in mid-2009.

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is a free service that creates detailed statistics about the visitors to city.ac.uk. Perhaps its greatest strength is its focus on Web Marketers rather than hardcore web geeks!

The School of Arts are particularly impressed with its ease of use (versus NedStat) especially where this relates to the high level dashboard-type data for casual use along with more in-depth data further into the report sets.

How will this effect me?

It will take at least a couple of months for any meaningful data to be collated by the software after which Web Team will offer training in its use for all Web Marketers and other member s of staff who need access to this information.

Central Marketing and Recruitment will be able to make reports available to other staff members on request.

Global footer links

The global footer links (that appear at the bottom of every www.city.ac.uk webpage) have been restyled to make them easier to use. A link to www.city.ac.uk/maps has also been added.
