Advice and Information from the MSc Admissions team

Preparing to Submit your Application

As the Christmas holidays are fast approaching, this period could be an ideal time to start thinking about your potential application to a Masters programme at Cass. Applicants who have clearly done their research before submitting their application often stand out. There are several things you can do to ensure that you make the most of your preparation time:

1)   Pick the right course

This may seem obvious, but choosing the correct course will be the foundation block of your whole application. If your interests and future career ambitions do not fit in with your chosen Masters course, your application may not seem convincing, or you might find yourself on a course that does not fulfil your needs.

Before you make any hasty decisions, do some research on the area you wish to work in after you graduate. What topics are particularly relevant to the industry? Ensure that you have read the information about all our courses. Compare the modules and typical graduate destinations to be sure that you are choosing the best path. Finally, be sure that it is a course that you will enjoy!

Why not watch some of our videos highlighting different courses and student experiences?

2)   Prepare your documents

Along with your application form, your supporting documents are a key component of your application. It will save some stress later if you start gathering your documents now. You will need to submit a CV, personal statement, degree transcript (interim transcript plus list of final year modules if you have not yet graduated), two references and, if applicable or available, proof of your proficiency in English, GMAT and any professional qualifications. Please see here for more information on supporting documents.

Use this time to get your CV up-to-date, and start drafting your personal statement. If you need to ask your institution to provide an interim transcript, ensure you give them enough notice in case they are busy. If you have already taken the IELTS, TOEFL or GMAT, find your score reports, as you will be required to upload these as supporting documents.

3)   Start thinking about IELTS/TOEFL and GMAT

If you need to provide evidence of your proficiency in English but have not yet taken the IELTS/TOEFL test, now is a good opportunity to start preparing for the test. Do not leave this to the last minute, as it is not unusual for test dates in some countries to become completely booked up during the summer, and you would not want to be in a situation where you have to defer your offer due to not meeting our requirements in time. Please visit the IELTS and TOEFL websites for further information and tips on preparing for the tests.

If you wish to take the GMAT before submitting your application, there are many resources available on the internet to help you prepare. Please visit the GMAT website.

These are just a few tips to start you on your exciting journey towards your Masters degree. Whilst we do not have an application deadline date, some courses start to fill up and close around May. We therefore suggest applying early, as this will give you more time to fulfil any offer conditions. We are currently accepting applications for September 2014 intake.

As always, if you have any queries about our courses or the application process, please do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone. Our contact details can be found here. We look forward to hearing from you!

  1. I have read the guide on applying for masters using the online mode but there is no page directing me to filling the online application form for masters. Kindly help with the masters application form.

  2. Hii
I’m planning to apply for MSc Management 2018 at Cass. Is GMAT compulsory?
    and will GRE be accepted?

or Can we apply directly without GRE or GMAT?

    • Hi Vishh
Thanks for your query! The GMAT is not a compulsory entry requirement for any of our MSc degrees, but a score of at least 600 can enhance an application. You can apply without a GMAT score and if the admissions panel want you to take one we will let you know. If you wish to take a test before applying we prefer the GMAT but will consider a GRE score if you already have one.
      I hope this helps!
      Kind regards
      MSc Admissions Team

  3. Is a high GMAT score (around 720) and relevant work experience enough to offset an application that does not meet the 2:1 requirement?

    • Hi Sam
Thanks for your question. All applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and the weight given to work experience and GMAT scores will vary from one course to another. It will also depend on whether the final degree classification only narrowly missed the 2.1 requirement or not. I recommend that you submit an application online with all your supporting documents, and ensure that you have a strong personal statement that pulls on any experience that is relevant to the MSc degree. The admissions panel can then review all documents and make an informed decision.
      I hope this helps.

  4. Hi,
I was going through your msc programs and I want to study Msc in management. I wanted to ask you if there is an application fee. Thanks

    • Hi Ahmed
Thanks for your question! We do not charge an application fee for our MSc degrees.
      I hope this helps!
      Kind regards

  5. Hi there,
I have submitted my application to MSc Finance on 28 March, but have not received any decision yet. I wonder whether it is possible that I apply for re-assessment of the IELTS grades that I used for my application. I want to be sure if this will cause trouble to the application process or even cast shadow on the authenticity of my test report, despite that I can be sure it is true if you can verify it by all means now. Or perhaps I should seek advice from the Admission Team of the MSc Finance programme? But anyway, I won’t apply for re-assessment if it’s not allowed or troublesome for your processing of application.
Thank you for your kind help. I am looking eagerly forward to hear from you soon.
    Best regards.

    • Hi Sybil
Thanks for your question! It is up to you whether you wish to have your IELTS re-assessed by Pearson. We do not require the IELTS score report in order to make a decision on your application, so this should not have any affect on our decision.
Since you have already submitted an application, from now on the best way to contact us is to email your admissions officer directly.
      I hope this helps!
      Kind regards
      MSc Admissions
