The eternal student, no more

Prof Andy Pratt has been awarded a higher doctorate, Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) by King’s College London. The DLitt has its companion of the DSc in the sciences and is awarded for exceptional academic achievement. In Andy’s case this is based upon his 20 years of research and writing about the cultural and creative industries; the degree is based on a portfolio of already published work, and an overview essay. It is then judged by three international referees.

That’s the end of the road, no more degrees! No longer a student! The picture shows Andy in his doctoral gown; he will now get to wear a new blue and red one at graduation (but not at lectures!). KCL had its academic gowns redesigned by Vivienne Westwood a few years ago, so watch this space for a fashion statement.
