Curating Hong Kong

On 15th March Andy Pratt was in Hong Kong; the panel that he chaired and spoke on was a workshop as part of Art Basel. Art Basel is an international contemporary art fair held in Basel, Miami and Hong Kong; the workshop was looking at the intersection of space and art practice. The event was organised by by team at Zurich University of the Arts and sought to make an intervention into the current debate about cultural policies and regeneration in Hong Kong the panel was happy to have the participation of many senior figures in the cultural field in Hong Kong included the curators of leading institutions that are developing the future of Hong Kong’s cultural scene. Being Hong Kong an important part of this debate was the Umbrella Revolution; the panel had as a speaker on of the student leaders, as well as a leading art political activist. The event is the second in a series, which first met as a workshop panel last year at the Venice Architectural Biennale which Andy also participated in. One of the themes Andy is working on at present is to articulate a form of of cultural governance at a city scale termed ‘cultural curation’.Untitled
