A Spring Event on “Viva & Upgrade” by SASS Research Students’ Community
The Ugrade and the Viva are significant steps during the course of a PhD, which can get daunting and stressful for PhD students. They both lead to different set of expectations and apprehensions: Will your fieldwork go as planned? Who will be your review or external supervisor? Now that you are so close to the end, what will you do when it is all over?
Although these questions may not directly impact the structure or the process of the Viva or the Upgrade, they are likely to shadow over PhD students’ thoughts as they get prepared.
SASS Research Students’ Community, which was founded in January 2014 to provide a platform for networking between and professional development for SASS PhD students, addresses these apprehensions and the stress they may cause at their next event.
The event will shaped as a colloquial panel to hear how others have dealt with these times and processes during their PhD careers.
