WOW festival at the Royal Festival Hall 12 March 2016

Who are the women who risk their lives to speak the truth? The ‘Refusing to be Silenced’ panel discussion at this year’s WOW festival  at the Royal Festival Hall (12 March 15.45-16.45) brings together international women of courage who stand for human rights and justice in war and conflict zones around the world. The session will focus attention on the abuses againsts women and girls in areas of conflict, such as Syria and Iraq and what is the price of speaking out and freedom of expression.  The panel discussion will be chaired by Lindsey Hilsum. There will also be the  presentation of the 2015 Anna Politkovskaya Award to Kholoud Waleed (Syria). Debbie Dickinson a long time supporter and event organiser for the Anna Politkovskaya Awards will be producing the event with RAW. Admission through the WOW festival day pass.
