Joy White talks grime and entrepreneurship

CCI and Sociology were very happy to host Dr Joy White today, who came in to talk about on her research on grime music and youth cultures. Joy’s five-year ethnographic study of grime for her PhD led to her book Urban Music and Entrepreneurship: Beats, Rhymes and Young People’s Enterprise, recently published by Routledge. Joy discussed how grime is located in relation to neoliberal politics, ideas of work and progression, creativity, power and sub/urban geography.
