Music Cities Convention Berlin 2017: Janet took part in a panel debate
Last week, Janet was invited to participate in the fourth edition of Music Cities Convention which took place in Berlin on April 4, 2017, and explored music and urban development in international cities. Her panel brought together Dr. Lee Dong Yeoun ( Master Planner of the K-Pop Arena Construction and the Platform Changdong61 by Seoul City Government), Slavis Poczebutas (Architect and Urbanist, Managing Director at MEKADO), Tobias Kettner (United Nations Habitat III Representative Europe) and Charles Landry (Moderator) to discuss music’s role in planning towns and cities in the future. The panel addressed current challenges such as the affordability and availability of work/rehearsal/performance spaces in the cities and advocated for a broader, long-term cultural infrastructure planning to assess the needs of the sector and plan ahead. Music Cities Convention is organised by Sound Diplomacy and is the largest and most extensive gathering on Music Cities. The conference brings together leaders from governments, cities and regions, academics, organisations and the music scene to discuss, debate and introduce new thinking.
