CCCI post-doctoral fellow and Visiting Professor

CCCI is please to welcome  Post-doctoral, and Professorial visitors to boost it’s research profile. The first to arrive is Prof. Robin Kim (Jeong Hoo Kim) who has an externally funded Research Professorship and will work with Prof. Andy Pratt. More news of the post-docs, working with Prof Ros Gill, in a later blog. Prof Kim has been working as professor on special assignment at the Graduate School of Urban Studies, Hanyang University, Korea. However, he has been allowed to work in London, visiting Seoul regularly to supervise and teach students. His major role is to widen academic collaboration with international institutions, focusing on research projects on urban regeneration. He has spent the last 5 years at UCL, he has just secured a  new 5-year research professorship funding provided by Hyundai that is also sponsoring Turbine Hall exhibitions at Tate, which he is bringing to City to work Andy Pratt and the CCI team. Prof Kim has have set up a broad research network through which European and Asian researchers closely collaborate for mutual benefits in various ways. His activities fall into four main strands: research on urban regeneration, exhibition on sustainable cities, international symposium in relation to key urban issues of post-industrial cities, and exchange programmes in which students in the UK and Korea. Robin also advises the Korean government on urban and cultural regeneration projects; he has a particular interest in waterfront and heritage regeneration, and has made a detailed study of Tate Modern.
