Artists’ labour markets

Andy spoke on a panel at the Association of Cultural Economics International which was held (virtually) in Warsaw, Poland on July 6. The panel was entitled “The influence of cultural economics on the current cultural policies towards artists and creators”. The other panelists were Dortoa IIczuk (who was chairing and presenting), Emilia Cholewicka, Karol Borowiecki, Marilena Vecco and Helmut Anheier. Andy spoke about the contradiction of the attempts of cities to attract artists to boost the image of cities; and, the rising prices that were forcing artists to leave cities in search of affordable studio and living space.
