Library Services is delighted to introduce our new online training resource SAGE Campus  which supports the teaching and learning of skills and research methods through 250+ hours of structured online learning. The 27 online courses are self-paced and instructor-led and comprise a mixture of SAGE quality content, videos, interactive content and formative assessments. SAGE Campus is an interesting, self-paced professional  resource for different stages of the research workflow for keeping research skills updated or for learning something new for example if starting a dissertation or a thesis.

The first time you use SAGE Campus, you will need to register with your City email address and choose a password, see our registration guidance.

Once you have registered you will be able to log in and see which courses you have in progress, have not yet started or have completed. Once you have completed a course, you can download a certificate.

The topics include critical skills and research methods for across all stages of academic study; navigating information, data literacy, research skills, data science skills, and getting published. You can select courses by the level such as beginner, intermediate and advanced level and by length, long or short courses. You can also plan your time as the approximate time commitment for each course is given.

Courses include:

  • Critical thinking
  • Research design in Social Data Science
  • Introduction to Python
  • Introduction to text mining
  • Fundamentals of quantitative text analysis
  • Practical data management with R
  • Research question
  • Research proposal
  • Introduction to journal publishing.

I have just finished my first module and downloaded my completion certificate for How to write a journal article. This gave me more of an insight into planning an article,  collaboration with others, selecting appropriate keywords and an overview of the editing process etc.
