How do you make a good first impression? Effective communication is about much more than just your words. Suzanne will focus on the mechanics of speaking; covering verbal and non-verbal cues, how you can use your voice to great effect, how to project confidence and ways to engage your audience. These tools can be applied to the delivery of presentations, in team meetings, at appraisal time, in interviews and the all-important networking. What are the key learning outcomes you will take away? Increased confidence in public speaking, techniques to calm nerves and tools for networking.

A Guide to Job-hunting Skills

The complete guide to finding a job. Victoria will be sharing her top job hunting and employment tips, including the all-important CV and interview advice. This workshop will offer a practical guide to creating and tailoring a CV and cover letter, handling application forms, finding jobs to apply for and how to succeed in an interview. You’ll take away all the skills and tools necessary to enable you to land your first (or second) professional role.
Suzanne has worked in information recruitment since 2002 and at Sue Hill Recruitment since 2006. She enjoys helping jobseekers progress in their careers and working with employers to find the right person to continue the success of their service offering. An advocate of recognising and utilising your own skills, Suzanne enjoys facilitating workshops and networking, believing that shared personal experiences in the workplace are invaluable for learning and development. She can also be found writing articles, blogs and tweeting under @suehillrec.
When not at work, Suzanne can be found sporting one or more of the following about her person: a tennis racquet, a camera, an oboe, gin.
Victoria Sculfor – @suehillrec
Vicky is an integral part of the SHR team. She thrives on the fast pace of recruiting temporary staff and on building relationships with clients and candidates across the public and not-for-profit sectors. She enjoys working with new graduates in libraries, information, records management and archives and is developing a real taste for presenting at conferences, offering top tips on how to progress your career.
Outside the confines of the office, Vicky turns her hand to brewing and drinking proper beer and experimenting with her culinary skills in the kitchen.
Helen Trudgeon – @tfpl_ltd
Helen is a qualified librarian and a relative newcomer to recruitment, joining TFPL for a brief period in 2011 to cover maternity leave, before returning permanently in 2014. She comes from a business information and financial research background, having worked for one of the Big 4 consultancies as well as in more niche corporate finance boutiques. She has also gained experience of information vendors, as she wanted to see what life was like on the other side of the fence. Helen has a keen interest in Knowledge and Information Management within the professional services arena and how they can support business’s commercial goals.
Outside work, when not cheering on her son from the touchline, Helen is a frequent visitor to the theatre and has recently taken up fly fishing in the great outdoors.
