Module 4 – A model for intervention

Module 4 discusses a model for intervention including;

Assessment – what language does the child understand and use? Can we share information so we all understand the child’s strengths and needs?

Language goals – Do we want to help the child develop more language skills? Or do we want to support the child to use the skills they have with more people? Or in different places? Or for different reasons?

Therapy – do we work with the child on their own? The family? Or the child with other children? What strategies do we use to support the child and others?

Evaluation – what strategies, tools and resources do we have? What works well and what do we need to change? Evaluation includes thinking about the child, ourselves and other people in the communication environment.
