If you’re looking for new teaching and learning ideas for the coming academic year, then lecture capture recordings of presentations from the 2015 Cass Teaching and Learning Showcase might provide some inspiration. The annual event is always a great opportunity to hear about innovative educational projects that have taken place, not just at Cass Business School, but across all schools at City University London.

The Keynotes

The theme for this year’s Showcase was Innovation in e-Learning. After an introduction to the day from Associate Dean for Education, Dr Lorenzo Trapani, the first keynote address was given by the Cass Director of e-Learning, Sam Brenton. He presented his personal views about developing effective online learning and discussed the new framework for e-Learning at Cass. Dr Steven Truxal from the City Law School gave the second keynote and shared his experiences of designing and developing a fully-online distance learning programme.

  • Professor Ben Rickayzen and Jorge Freire demonstrating how eBeam capture can be used to record whiteboard content during lectures.
  • Gill Harrison from the School of Health Science discussing how she has implemented a flipped learning approach.
  • Dr Marius Luedicke and Stephanie Feiereisen sharing how a crowdfunding activity led to Cass MSc students raising 24,000 GBP while developing their marketing skills.

During the afternoon, Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD) and the Learning Resources Centre offered hands-on workshops. Topics covered included future developments for lecture capture, increasing student engagement with multimedia resources and blended learning design.
