Sustainable Diets: An in-depth analysis of climate policies, dietary habits and policy integration
PhD candidate Ronja Teschner is undertaking her doctoral research (Sept 2024 – Sept 2027) at the Centre for Food Policy at City St George’s University of London.
Her research focuses on food policy and the integration of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, examining how food policies in the UK address these interlinked challenges. She is particularly interested in the role of policy in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the food sector, especially from a consumption-based perspective. Building on this analysis, she is developing a policy implementation measurement tool to assess how effectively climate and food policies are translated into practice. In addition, her research involves the creation of a modelling framework to estimate the potential reductions in GHG emissions that could be achieved in the UK and EU if integrated food and climate policies were implemented at scale. Through this work, she aims to contribute to the development of evidence-based, cross-sectoral policy approaches that can support a more sustainable and climate-resilient food system.
