The Learning Spaces Group

LDC Team Away Day Aug 13 035The Learning Spaces group is back and we are currently looking for new academic members! The Learning Spaces Group is a forum for discussing, debating and designing new Learning Spaces at City.

For clarification by design we mean both the design of the physical spaces, and the technologies and resources within them. By learning spaces we mean classrooms, lecture rooms and informal spaces within the City University campus. The group is made up of academics, students, Learning Technologists and staff from PAF and IS. Over the last two years this group has had an enormous impact on the design of the new spaces in the wider Estates project and redevelopment of the University campus.

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday 18th March from 1200 – 13.00. This year the group will be helping to design the new teaching spaces for the wider estates project there are around 14 new rooms currently being developed, and the learning spaces group will feed into the technologies, architect designs, and furniture/room design that will become the final spaces. We will also be evaluating the rooms developed last year by the learning spaces group, for example the swivel seat lecture theatre BLG07, as well as evaluating and developing future designs for new teaching pods and classroom technologies.

Visit our Educational Vignettes Blog for a look at some of the work we have been involved in:

Please email kate.reader@city.ac.uk to sign up to the group, or if you have any questions.
