THE award for Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development Shortlisting

LDC was shortlisted for the THE award for Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development.  This was in recognition of the impact of an in-house version of the Collaborative Leadership Programme based on the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education Future Leaders programme. The course was facilitated by leadership professionals, Susan Chadwyck and Dr Linda Carter.  Thirteen participants drawn from professional services, specifically IS, LDC and educational technology staff, completed the course in 2012.  The modules included reading, group work, activities, guest speakers, psychometric tests, action learning sets and coaching.

Participants found the course to be rewarding and enlightening.  They had increased levels

of self-awareness and

understanding of others and developed their roles and leadership capabilities.  It was an experience particularly instrumental in supporting participants working within a complex environment, achievements and projects completed as part of the SLE (Strategic Learning Environment) and tackling changes experienced at the University this year.

The award event was a glitzy occasion hosted by comedian Sandi Toksvig.  It was a rare opportunity to celebrate the great work going on in UK universities and raise awareness of the diverse, exciting projects going on all the time without fanfare within HE.  The LEAD team were delighted to share a table with the Careers, Student Development & Outreach team who were shortlisted for the category of Widening Participation or Outreach Initiative of the Year.  We would like to extend congratulations to all of this year’s THE Award winners.

If you are interested in undertaking some leadership development, it is still possible to apply to complete the Leading Change in Higher Education MAAP module starting in January 2014.
