Multimedia Training Sessions and Initiatives

The multimedia team are setting up a number training sessions and initiatives to help staff engage with the use of multimedia in their teaching,  If you would like to take part in any of these then please complete the form at the bottom of the page.

Training Sessions

Conference poster design using Adobe Photoshop

Learn to create attractive, clear conference posters using Adobe Photoshop for a professional touch. This session will look at good effective poster design and give you a grounding in the basic features of Photoshop.

Creating video interviews and research presentations

Learn to storyboard, compose and shoot that all-important video to publicise your research, interview or even just to address your students. This training course will enable you to take proper advantage of the video-making equipment available for loan by the MILL.

Tools for incorporating multimedia into teaching resources and learning activities

A short session focusing on some of the tools available in Moodle to help you with creating screencasts, online lectures, clips from TV and radio, and enabling students to create their own video and audio assignments.

Educational Multimedia Group

We are setting up an Educational Multimedia Group for staff who are keen to incorporate more multimedia into their courses, as well as share their experiences with other members of staff.

The group will look to share and discuss good practice of the use of multimedia in educational delivery. This will include, but not be limited to, aspects such as:

  • Interactive multimedia
  • Video in education
  • Multimedia web tools
  • Multimedia apps for tablets and phones
  • Web conferencing
  • Student-created video

Face-to-face coffee mornings will be arranged 3 times a year, these will be informal meetings and the majority of the time will be handed over to the members to share their ideas and experiences.  We will also look to arrange regular online meetings, as well as develop online resources to disseminate information about the latest multimedia tools available to staff.
