Moodle 3.6: My Moodle

City is updating to Moodle version 3.6 on 15th July 2019. To update Moodle to the latest release and optimise the database, Moodle will be unavailable from 8pm Friday 12th July to 8am Monday 15th July 2019

This post is the first in our series exploring what’s new in Moodle 3.6. Where better to start than with the Moodle home page – My Moodle.

My Moodle improvements

Feedback from staff and students has helped us to identify some key improvements to the My Moodle page.

  1. To improve the user experience and meet the very different requirements of students, lecturers and course officers we are exploring ways to reduce the number of clicks required to access modules.
  2. While Recently Accessed Modules is a popular feature on the My Moodle page, students would like to be able to access more than their last two accessed modules. We are looking at incorporating a new core feature from Moodle to provide access to a greater number of recently accessed modules.

  3. We’re removing the message slider from the My Moodle page. While this was useful for some students, the inability to tailor messages to staff and students or by level of student study has meant that it is not useful to all users.

In our next post in this series, we’ll look at some of the improvements you can expect to see on module pages.
