LEaD Writing Group dates for 2021/22

Still writing

The LEaD Writing Group is an informal community of practice that provides support around blogging specifically and writing more generally. The monthly sessions that Jane Secker and I run also provide a small but dedicated spot of writing time for those with busy calendars. Unbelievably, we are now about to start our sixth year of running this group!

We moved from in-person activities onto Zoom during lockdown last year and have chosen to keep the group running online for the upcoming academic year. This enabled us to open the group up to external participation – whether of presenters or participants – and so brought a new dimension to the group meetings.

We ended the last academic year with a really engaging presentation from Dr Alexandra Mihai, Assistant Professor of Innovation in Higher Education at Maastricht University, who spoke about blogging and academic practice. If you missed the session at the time, you can watch the recording of her presentation below:

You can read Dr Mihai’s blog here or subscribe to her newsletter here (both highly recommended perspectives on education, technology and more).

Save the date and register

We have now confirmed dates and times for this academic year’s LEaD Writing Group sessions. They will continue to be a mix of sessions run by myself and Jane, or featuring guest speakers, as well as giving participants a chance to sit down and get on with that writing task that they’ve been putting off. Guest speakers/topics are still being confirmed, at the time of publication.

Click on the links below to register for each session (link opens in new window; all sessions will run 12:00 – 13:00):

Although the LEaD Writing Group is mainly aimed at City participants, external visitors are also welcome to join us. Be aware though that we have a registration limit of 40 people.

Now, where did I put that pencil?
