Christos Balafoutis – PhD Student, Department of Sociology and Criminology

As an academically driven professional with a strong foundation in Sociology, Criminology, Journalism, and Political Science, I am passionate about fostering critical thinking and intellectual curiosity in students. My interdisciplinary background equips me to approach complex social, political, and criminal issues from diverse perspectives, integrating key concepts from social theory, criminal justice, and political science. With a deep commitment to research and teaching, I aim to create engaging, student-centred learning environments that inspire students to explore the intersections of society and criminal behaviour. My expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods enables me to design and critically analyse research projects while mentoring students through their own research processes. Additionally, my interest in sports history allows me to examine the cultural and societal impacts of sports, providing a broader context for understanding social change. I am eager to apply my academic training, research skills, and passion for teaching in a dynamic educational role, where I can contribute to the development of students’ intellectual growth and academic success.
