Library systems downtime: Saturday 8pm-midnight

On Saturday 11th March, 8pm-midnight our library systems suppliers will be carrying out maintenance which will result in some intermittent downtime to the following services:

  • Self-issue or return of items
  • Access to e-resources (databases, journals, e-books etc.)
  • Access to CityLibrary Account, including:
    • Renewals
    • Placing requests
    • Paying charges
  • Book availability information in CityLibrary Search

Problems with Library guides and room bookings

Unfortunately we are suffering some problems with our online chat, FAQs, Library Guides, and Library bookings systems at the moment.  We have reported this to our supplier and they are working to restore access as soon as possible.

If you need assistance from us in the meantime, then you can always visit one of our Libraries, or call 020 7040 8191 to talk to a member of staff.  And don’t forget that our email is still working too.

Library systems restored

Today’s Library systems upgrade has been completed ahead of schedule.

You can now:

  • access to e-resources (databases, journals, e-books etc.)
  • access your CityLibrary Account, including:
    • Renewals
    • Placing requests
    • Paying charges
  • view book availability information in CityLibrary Search
  • use the self-issue and return machines at all sites

 

No Access to Library Systems – Today

From 09:30-18:00 today, Sunday 22nd January, we are upgrading our Library systems.  This means that there is no:

  • Self-issue or return of items
  • No access to e-resources (databases, journals, e-books etc.)
  • No access to CityLibrary Account, including:
    • Renewals
    • Placing requests
    • Paying charges
  • No book availability information in CityLibrary Search

You will be able to borrow and return books during staffed Library hours, and we hope to have everything back up by 6pm.

We have scheduled this work to be done during a quieter period, so as to minimise the impact to our users.

POSTPONED: System downtime today

Today’s planned downtime to Library systems has been postponed.  You will be able to access eresources, your CityLibrary Account, and item availability information online as normal.  Self-issue and return machines at all sites are also in operation today.

We will be rescheduling this work to take place in the near future, and will keep you all posted.

Revising for your exams or studying over the Christmas break?

We can now confirm our opening times for the holiday period.

Northampton Square Library
From Monday 19th December to Thursday 22nd December the library will be operating vacation opening hours of 9am to 10pm with reference and self-service after 5pm.

On Friday the 23rd December the Library will be open 9am to 3pm only.

The library will be closed on Saturday 24th December to Tuesday 27th December inclusive.

We will be open between Wednesday 28th December and Friday 30th December from 10am to 6pm (reference and self-service only).

The library will be closed Saturday 31st December 2016 to Monday 2nd January inclusive.

Term time opening hours resume on Tuesday 3rd January when 24-hour opening will begin and run until Friday 20th January.

From the 28th December until the end of 24-hour opening, access will only be available to City University students and staff.
Cass Learning Resource Centre
The library will close at 3pm on Friday 23rd December and will re-open on Tuesday 3rd January at 8.30am.

24/7 opening will run from 3rd January at 8.30am until Friday 20th January.

During this time, access will only be available to City University students and staff.

City Law School Libraries
The law libraries at Northampton Square and Gray’s Inn Place will close at 3pm on Friday 23rd December and will re-open with usual hours on Tuesday 3rd January.

24/7 Opening
To help support you during the exam period Northampton Square Library and Cass Learning Resource Centre will be open 24/7 from 8:30am on Tuesday 3rd January until midnight Friday 20th January.
Before travelling in, please check the opening times at each site.
