City has been selected as one of twelve institutions to receive a grant from the Leverhulme Trust to cover two Fellowships for overseas visitors, each for a period of 9 to 12 months, to be appointed during the academic year 2011/12.
The Fellowships are for postdoctoral academic researchers (or of equivalent status) who are not UK citizens, are permanently resident in any country other than the UK and intend to return to their country of residence at the end of the Fellowship. The University will be responsible for ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and will need to establish the basis on which a selected Fellow who is not an EU citizen can obtain any necessary visa.
No department or unit may receive more than one Fellowship but research in all fields is eligible. There is no age limit but the scheme is primarily intended to support less experienced researchers, normally with no more than eight years of postdoctoral experience, who have not yet spent an extended period in the UK.
City’s partners in the World Cities World Class (WC2) University Network are being invited to nominate candidates to undertake research in any of the four key themes of the network (Transport, Global Health, Business and Creative/Cultural Industries), to be hosted within the School most appropriate to the area of research. Any other outstanding candidates identified by Schools will also be considered. The selection of the Fellows will take place in January 2012 (deadline for nominations is Tuesday 20 December 2011) and will be based on the candidate’s cv, research proposal and other possible contributions they could make to the University.
