The Introduction to Health Sciences course is a 1 year full-time programme which, upon successful completion, provides entry into one City’s BSc programmes. These are: Adult nursing, Children’s nursing, Mental health nursing, Midwifery, Speech and Language Therapy.

What do students learn on this course?
This entry route course allows students to learn about the different roles of nurses, midwives, speech and language therapists in simulated workshops, lectures, interactive activities and full-day taster sessions to broaden their knowledge and understanding of these professions. The course also integrates other key subjects essential for progression into the student’s chosen BSc programme, such as basic biology, professional writing, research and analysis as well as interprofessional team working.
What do students get from this course?
Upon successful completion of the Introduction to Health Sciences course and of meeting the progression criteria students can progress onto one of the BSc programmes above. Furthermore, students will obtain a Certificate of Higher Education which is an additional qualification added onto their CV. Students will also gain key transferable skills such as academic writing, reviewing literature, employability skills, as well as skills in personal and professional development.
