Last week was eventful in the Project SECRET. On the 22nd of March, we concluded the first year and a half of the project and presented our progress to RAEng Mentor Robert Wood. Thanks to the commitment of the team, a lot of progress has already been done, with work packages 1, 3 and 5 completed, and packages 2, 4, 6,7 and 8 progressing well. The review confirmed that the project is on track and the team is excited about the new findings that can be expected in the future.
In the past period, we also got the newest addition to the team, Mario Matuzovic, a student of Master studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zagreb, working on Work package 4, who will be joining us as a PhD student from this summer.

Later in the week, the City Team visited the Howden factory in Glasgow to socialize, share updates on both sides and create a plan for further actions in the project. During the site tour, the Howden team gave an overview of what is going on and what the factory plans are, which allow the whole team to get familiar with the current production process and discuss steps and procedures of Compressor parts manufacturing. The site tour was followed by a fruitful discussion and brainstorming about the next steps in the project. We also had a chance to speak to the engineering and sales team about their view on the positive effects of project SECRET for Howden and what else could be done to take this even further.

It was concluded that the benefits and positive thoughts about the projects are shared throughout Howden all the way to the COO level.

In parallel to research activities, City Team has been working hard in the past months on the establishment of the Industrial Consortium to fund pre-competitive research in the area of Compressors and Expanders in future Energy Systems (CERES), which is planned to kick off in early March. More information on CERES to follow in the next weeks.
