It’s Exam Time (So let’s Make some Silly Sounds)

Uncategorized.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and managed to have a break-especially if you’re revising for exams. A whole term down of this year already, and time has flown. It has been really full-on, but everything we’ve been learning is starting to make more sense and we’re looking more at disorders that we may actually see in clinic (when we’re working), which means that everything is starting to come together and we’re getting more of an idea of the kinds of jobs we may do when we qualify.

This holiday, I’ve mainly been having Christmas fun with my 8year-old nephew, (his choices for the day; watch a film, chill, listen to some Justin Bieber – his words. He is amazing)/skiing for a week at the beginning of January; for me, this is the ultimate relaxing holiday/eating until I cannot physically fit any more food into myself/revising for two exams we have in January, and working on 2 pieces of coursework.

At City, we have two exam periods, one just after Christmas and one in May- June. This means that even though we’ve been on a break from lectures, we’ve had to keep motivated and keep up the studying. Our coursework has also meant there’s been a fair amount to do- a piece of clinical writing, where we create a communication profile of a client we’ve seen during our placement in the last term, and also a critique of a psychology paper. Our imminent exams are an anatomy and physiology multiple choice test (I know, I also thought this would make it easier…until I actually did one…) and a VIVA for phonetics. The VIVA has a dictation and an oral element; when I first heard about this, I found it totally confusing and difficult to understand what this would involve, so I thought I’d make a vlog this month to hopefully make it a little easier to understand.
