We celebrated our sixth annual Green City Week from the 20th to 24th October 2014. Here are some highlights from the week:
- There was plenty of information on Sustainability at City
- and a lot on what students can do to make an impact!
- We recruited Sustainability Leaders all week and also at the Volunteering fair
- Students shared their thoughts on how we to live more sustainable lifestyles
- Speaking of ideas…. we celebrated the students who turned their ideas into reality through Green Dragons in 2013/14…and also showcased this year’s project ideas at the special celebration event…there was yummy food too!
- NLWA was on site with freebies and tips on how to reduce food waste..
- And some pretty nifty Fairtrade goodies were on sale! Did you know City is a Fairtrade University?
- Thames Water handed out free 4 minute shower timers! You can save water, energy & money by reducing your shower time to 4 minutes 🙂
- We found out why drinking tap water is better for us and the environment
- That’s how much sugar there is in 1 Litre of Lucozade…water is so much healthier!
- There was a pop-up fresh fruit and veg stall courtesy of Sodexo
- Our Eco playground offered fun and games that help save the planet!
- The Bike Doctor was on site offering free Bike maintenance
- And so were the Barclays Cycle Hire Roadshow team
- There was an opportunity to find out about Green Dragons Projects from last year
- We relaunched the Green Dragons Meat Free Monday campaign!
- And the Green Dragons Restart Project helped students and staff fix broken gadgets through their restart party
- We learnt how to make beads old City prospectuses
- And used them to make cool bracelets
- Empty juice carton = brand new wallet…and it’s durable & cute too!
- The best part is you can make it in 5 minutes!
- Watched Wayne’s World powered by bike
- There was free popcorn…
- And candy floss too 🙂
