تعتبر طريقة المسامير الطاردة من الطرق الفعالة التي يمكن أن تمنع الحمام من التواجد في محيط المنزل والحديقة، وهو عبارة عن شريط يحتوي على صفوف متعددة من المسامير الرفيعة المعدنية، أو البلاستيكية والمُرتبة بمختلف الزوايا.
يستخدم جل الطيور الشفاف الطارد للحمام على نطاق واسع بين الناس؛ وذلك لأنه من الطرق الفعالة التي تُبعد الحمام عن الأسطح والمنازل، إذ إنه يسحب قدم الطائر بمجرد ملامستها له؛ مما يعمل على تقييد حركة الطائر وتخويفه.
يعد شريط صعق الطيور من الطرق الآمنة والفعالة التي يمكن أن تبعد الحمام عن المنزل، أو الحديقة، كما أنها طريقة غير مكلفة من الناحية المادية، ويكون هذا الشريط بطول 15 م في الغالب، ويمكن توصيله بالكهرباء، كما يوجد منه أنواع تعمل بالطاقة الشمسية. بمجرد توصيل شريط الصعق بمصدر الكهرباء ومده على المكان الذي يُراد طرد الحمام منه سيبدأ العمل مباشرة، وبمجرد ملامسته لقدم الطائر سيشعر الطائر بوخزة صغيرة ليقرر فورًا بسبب هذه الوخزة مغادرة المكان.
