Strong performance for City in THE Impact Rankings 2022

City, University of London has performed well in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022, the world’s only ranking measuring universities’ contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

City’s overall score was 78.6 (out of 100), ranking 201 to 300 of 1406 institutions, an improvement on its position in 2021 where it was ranked 301 to 400 (out of 1115 institutions) with a score of 70.7.

The THE Impact Rankings include metrics based on all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.  Universities can submit data on as many of the SDGs as they are able.

Eleanor Simes, Head of Sustainability at City said:

“We are very pleased to see the improvement in our ranking this year, especially at a time when higher education institutions across the world are stepping up their activities to address environmental and social sustainability issues. The work of our colleagues and students is contributing to positive impact in our local and global communities and it’s great to see this recognised in our performance.”

More information regarding City’s work in support of Goal 13 (Climate Action) can be reviewed in our recently published Global Goals Report: Climate Action in focus.
