City’s incredibly edible Walled Garden

Join the the Walled Garden gardening sessions at City

Located between Drysdale and University buildings The Walled Garden is City’s edible community garden for students and staff.

The garden space is looked after by a Community Gardener and student and staff volunteers throughout the year. We run weekly drop in sessions where you can get involved with a multitude of gardening tasks. This is a great opportunity to learn more about gardening and biodiversity at City, take a break from your studies and connect with others. The Walled Garden is home to a composter, wormery and greenhouse and volunteers have previously grown Asparagus, Squash, Tomatoes, Spinach, Herbs, Peas, and Aubergines to name a few.

When do the sessions take place? The sessions run every Tuesday from 12.30pm – 2.00pm. You can pop in at any time during this time slot.

What do I need to bring? We will provide everything you need including gloves, aprons and tools.

Can I use the garden at another time? Yes! The Walled Garden is open all through the week and we encourage you to make the most if it. If you want to use it for a team day, lesson, meeting, study session etc. please just let us know and we will be happy to support you in making it happen.

Please email us at sustainable_city@city.ac.uk if you have any further questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
