Two down, one to go!
The City’s Law Careers Fair on Wednesday 21st October will mark the end of a very successful Careers Fair Season. After the Law Fair, around 100 organisations will have attended the Fairs at City, and some 1,800 students will have benefited from this networking opportunity with their potential future employers.
If you are a Law student, chances are you know about City’s Law Fair, and the reasons why you should consider attending are fairly obvious. But what is in it for you if you are studying for example Economics, Sociology, Politics, Journalism or Psychology?
Well, for starters, law firms, legal services, chambers and other organisations that will be present at the fair have opportunities for non-Law students, such as internships or graduate schemes in their business support divisions. But even if the employers that have confirmed their attendance are not high up on your target list, the Law Fair is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from top recruiters about what impresses them in job applications. If nothing else, you can learn a big deal about their recruitment processes and their top tips, which are transferable to other areas. And who knows, you might find out that a career with them might be perfect for you after all!
If you are attending the fair, don’t forget to:
- Register online here.
- Do some research on the exhibitors that you want to approach on the day. Start by downloading the Fair Guide.
- Prepare an elevator pitch, or a few sentences to introduce yourself in an interesting manner to your potential employers.
- Prepare some questions that demonstrate your interest in their area of work.
