The EPID is a tool for parents of deaf children, designed by parents of deaf children.
The quality and quantity of a parent’s interaction with their deaf child predicts how well that deaf child will develop language. The EPID will be an evidence-based observational tool to identify these parent behaviours within videos of parent-child interactions where the child is deaf and aged 0-3. The tool has been co-produced by hearing and deaf parents and professionals. Please see ‘Developing the EPID’ for a timeline of events that has lead to its development.
This project is funded by the NIHR and supported by City, University of London and Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
