The professionals’ survey has been open since the 5th May, exactly eight weeks today. We have 100 full responses. I am blown away and hugely appreciative to those who have filled it out so far. Though most of the answers are tick boxes and sliding scales, the survey requests that clinicians reflect on their practice and this takes time.
Here is some of the feedback we’ve received so far…
I am fascinated by this project and I am very excited by the prospect of a specific tool to use. Even filling out this survey has been thought provoking and has made me re-evaluate some of my more recent work.
The survey has made me realise that I could do with further training in assessing parent-child interaction in relation to hearing parents of deaf children.
Very interesting – I would love a deaf-specific PCI tool, and look forward to hearing from your respondents about what they are using/doing with their families.
Really looking forward to something that is specific for deaf children and their families. Many checklists and assessment frameworks have lots of transferable skills but it always has to be adapted from a hearing model rather than looking specifically at skills and development required for deaf children. This survey has been really interesting to reflect on the importance of parent child interaction skills and the how these are measured/ assessed.
Love the idea for creating a useful tool. There isn’t enough deaf specific available to ToDs.
The survey ends on Friday 31st July: just over four more weeks. There hasn’t ever been a survey on how professionals assess parent-child interaction in deafness, so I’m hoping everyone who has had a chance to report their practice has had a chance! I can’t wait to see the final results.
Do you know any SLT, TOD, Psychology colleagues who haven’t filled it in yet?
