Phase one will be a systematic review of the research evidence with the following questions: which parent behaviours are being assessed in parent-deaf child interaction? How are these behaviours assessed?
This phase is a collaboration project with Dr Evelien Dirks, Senior Researcher at The Dutch Foundation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in The Netherlands.
Phase two is a mixed method study; an online survey with follow up focus groups to investigate current professional-reported practice.
Phase three will be a delphi study to gain consensus on the core content of the EPID tool – combining the learning from phase one and two.
Phase four will include some initial acceptability testing with professionals and parents, and some inter-reliability investigations.
