Rail Law

Welcome to Rail Law! This blog was hitherto known as ‘Railways and Law’ and I have now managed to move it (and slightly rebrand it) following my move from Reading to City. It has been rather quiet of late due to pressures of settling into new job and my ineptness with technology in terms of moving the content; however, it should now be up and running again.

The objectives remain the same, to comment on legal issues affecting this complex industry which, love it or hate it, is a national obsession and deeply woven into the politics and economics and way of life of the UK. The legal issues are as diverse and complex as the industry itself ranging from liability issues to regulation, procurement, property, employment, planning, environment, health and safety and all manner of contractual issues to name but a tiny fraction. There is much to look at over the coming weeks including such matters as injunctions and protestors against infrastructure projects, proposed limitations on striking in transport, and the latest on the restructuring of the industry.
