If you’re a Speech and Language Therapist, you may be wondering if what you do counts as communication partner training (CPT). Please don’t be put off by the name – if you’re working with families with aphasia to help with communication, it’s very likely that you are doing CPT.
CPT can be done by following manualised interventions [e.g. BCA (Better Conversations with Aphasia; Beeke et al., 2013) or SPPARC (Supporting Partners of People with Aphasia in Relationships and Conversation; Lock et al., 2001)].
CPT can also be done more informally. Below we’ve listed some of the things that we count as CPT . If you recognise some of these things in your clinical practice, please consider signing up to tell us your opinion on what should be included in a new intervention for the NHS. We’d love to hear from you and benefit from your experiences..

The deadline for signing up and completing round 1 of the survey is Friday 10th June. Signing up takes less than 5 minutes, and you’ll automatically receive a link to round 1 which takes around 30 minutes (you can do it in smaller chunks when you have time – just reopen the link and pick up where you left off).
