Our congratulations go to the seven Bayes and City alumni who reached the national finals of their respective countries. The British Council Study UK Alumni Awards celebrate and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education and raise the international profile of UK alumni and their former universities.

Saad Zuberi (MA International Journalism, 2013) will represent City in the Culture and Creativity category of the Global Final in September of this year.

Winner in the Culture and Creativity category for the Pakistan finals, Saad Zuberi had the following to say about his qualification for the Global Finals:

“Qualifying for the global final award is an immense honour and a deeply humbling experience. It represents not only recognition of my dedication to public interest journalism and human-interest storytelling but also the opportunity to connect with and learn from remarkable individuals doing incredible work worldwide. Nominations like these really do make you realise how much there is still to learn and accomplish in life. Being named a global finalist has only served to motivate me to do bigger and better things in the future and, if I’m lucky, continue to spark dialogue and bring about social and policy reforms through my work for a more empathetic and just world.”

Now into its tenth year, the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards are open to alumni living anywhere outside of the UK, who were enrolled at an officially recognised body or received a recognised award from a UK higher education institution over the past 15 years. Award winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, industries, and countries.
