Hello everyone – and a warm welcome to a particularly packed issue of our alumni newsletter.
It was great to meet many of you at our recent Bayes Alumni Forum. I hope you found it a useful, informative and enjoyable event. Former Twitter EMEA Vice President Bruce Daisley certainly alighted on a current hot topic with his talk on the debate around working from home and hybrid roles. Do look out as well for forthcoming alumni events both here in London and much further afield, the next of which will be taking place in Rio 6th September.
Our alumni team have been working hard gathering stories about particularly successful graduates and I hope you enjoy reading about some of those high achievers profiled in this issue. I found the story of Tom Ilube and his appointment as Chair of the Prince’s Trust particularly inspiring. And, on the subject of inspiring stories, do read our interview with Annika Israelsson as she takes on the small challenge of rowing across the Atlantic. I’m sure she’d love to hear from any of you able to sponsor her efforts for charity.
Another highlight of the late spring for me was attending the launch of City’s new policy think tank, the Finsbury Institute. Do have a look at the website and see if you or your colleagues or contacts may benefit from the range of knowledge and expertise it boasts.
We’re committed to delivering for our alumni, seeing the networking and learning opportunities of our alumni graduates as a key part of our ‘offer’ to students. To that end, it would be great if you could fill in the alumni survey, which closes on 3rd July.
We are always looking to engage with your alumni network around the world. In particular, we want to hear from alumni who are interested in giving back to their school. This could include sharing your expertise by giving a guest lecture to our students, mentoring or coaching some of our students, acting as an ambassador for our school in your organisation, volunteering to support alumni engagement in your local area or helping to fund scholarships for our students. If you would like to explore ways to help your school, please get in contact with Helen Nicholson, Head of Bayes Alumni Relations at helen.nicholson@city.ac.uk.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter and that it stimulates you to get in touch or perhaps attend one of our many events.
Best wishes.
