A message from the Dean – September 2025

The beginning of a new academic year heralds the arrival of a whole new intake of students across all programmes – over the last few weeks I have had the pleasure of welcoming a large new MSc cohort, a great group of MBAs from across the world and a record number of undergraduate students. In the near future, all these students will join our ever-increasing community of dynamic alumni.

Andre Spicer

Until then, you are encouraged to tap into their knowledge while they are still students of BSc, MSc and MBA programmes by having them work on real-life business projects that could serve your company’s needs while making a vital contribution to their education.

Building on  the success of the postgraduate alumni Careers Webinars launched earlier this year, we are happy to offer the fifth and sixth in the series “Creating Competitive Advantage in your Career” in October and November. At undergraduate level, City St George’s has recently expanded its lifelong careers support to alumni of our Bachelor’s-level programmes, adding to the already wide range of services alumni can access to further their professional development and continue their lifelong learning.

Similarly, MBA alumni should not pass up the chance to take a free MBA elective per year, be it with specific career development goals in mind or to feed the intellectual curiosity that has played such a part in their achievements to date. Find more details on this in the newsletter. The Future Leaders Programme also continues to make waves, equipping beneficiaries with the skills and tools to get ahead in today’s ever more complex business environment.

In the spirit of continued development, we are delighted to share some recent successes; the recently published Daily Mail University Guide 2026 has ranked our institution among the UK’s top 10 universities for graduate salaries and high-skilled jobs. Subject-level rankings in the guide reinforce the professional edge to our educational offer, with strong results for Finance (4th in the UK), Accounting and Marketing (both 6th) and Business Studies (10th), among others. In addition, the just published Times Good University Guide 2026 has placed our undergraduate programme in Accounting & Finance 2nd in London and 6th in the UK, top in London for student experience and 2nd for both teaching quality and graduate prospects. We are also proud to see our MSc Management’s strong position in the latest Financial Times ranking, positioned an impressive third in the world for alumni career progression. Further reasons to be pleased come in the shape of the latest Linkedin MBA ranking, which places the Bayes MBA 5th in the UK and 51st globally.

This issue of Bayes Alumni News includes fantastic examples of the progression, development and professionalism of our community – the success stories of our own alumni, via awards and accolades, their active participation in upcoming alumni events, the stories they have to tell of their days at Bayes and the myriad of ways in which they have continued to give back to their alma mater whilst forging impressive careers. Also, don’t miss out on the many gatherings and public lectures coming up over the coming months, including the Craft Lecture on AI and Equity, a Global Women’s Leadership Programme-hosted event examining Gender, Labour Markets and the 21st Century, and the launch of my latest book The Art of Less, How to Focus on what Really Matters at Work, co-written with Mats Alvesson.

With that, please enjoy the latest issue, which mirrors your success whilst keeping you informed of further opportunities to get involved and benefit from the Bayes alumni offer.

Best wishes,

Professor André Spicer
