Weekly Update: Laura Kuenssberg, The International System of Power, Israel and Apartheid, and more

Hey Y’all,

Take a break from your studies and sample some of this week’s selections.

Laura Kuenssberg talks about reporting political stories, the current hot political topics …and answers your questions.

TODAY!

Laura is one of the most high profile political journalists in Britain. She works phenomenal hours on her regular BBC duties and very rarely does anything beyond her BBC TV, radio and on-line news output. This frequently stretches from 07.00 to 23.00 and – like last night – into the weekend too, so any other time is reserved for friends and family: it’s a bit special that she’s spending an hour this Wednesday evening talking to us and responding to whatever you ask. She’s been threatened by those who disagreed with her political analysis – at one point a body guard accompanied her whenever she was working in a public area. She’s spoken out about the problems of women operating in male dominated environments. And she’s defended the objectivity of her reporting when damned for being ‘clearly a Brext sympathiser’ … and equally denounced as ‘another BBC remoaner’.

Last month she reported that she had independent confirmation that people had heard the PM say he would rather ‘let the bodies pile high in their thousands’ than order a further lockdown. And she added that the PM still denied saying those words.  What did number 10 have to say to her raising questions about the PM’s truthfulness… and did she need clearance from the BBC Director of News for that report?

You can raise anything you wish, and speak directly to Laura, on Wednesday evening. It’s a rare opportunity.
