The Department of International Politics and the Centre for Modern History are looking forward to seeing you next week for Welcome week!
Some of you might be involved in the Student Union Fair and as City’s Buddies scheme.
We have a range of activities not only for new students to meet existing students but also for returning students to mingle with each other and discover what opportunities exist for them this year
** THU 28 SEPTEMBER **
Come to ELG15 at 1-2:15pm to meet the course officers, learn about planned events, and collaborating with student societies (our department is proud to have 3 in house with the lasted launched being the European Affairs society)
and then stay in ELG15 for 2:15-3:15pm for the student led session “I wish I had known”, where current students and alumni share their tips about making the most of this academic year and juggling your personal life and university commitments.
We then have a panel discussion on “Understanding Disorder” in the Oliver Thompson Lecture Theatre 3:30-4:30pm followed by drinks in the foyer. With several academics from the department, including Prof.Parmar, Dr Sundaram and Dr Silvestri.

- INTPOL SOCIETY COMMITTEE: Yuvraj Jaisinghani and Sami Al-Sayyad
- HISTORY SOC COMMITTEE: Caitlin Mantz, Alice Monteiro, Ishika Chakma, Kiera-Louise Bellanfante, Mekisa Herbert
- EUROPEAN AFFAIRS SOCIETY COMMITTEE. This is in the course of being set up – Dr Silvestri promoted the creation of this in the course of IP3022 (Political Change in Europe) and through the student visit she organised to the EU diplomatic mission in London. The 2 main students involved are Geanina Savu and Aisha Musse.
