Congratulations to the ‘Making Humanitarian News’ team who have been awarded AHRC funding for a two year project on humanitarian journalism.
The project is a collaboration between Mel Bunce (City U), Martin Scott (U of East Anglia) and Kate Wright (Roehampton U). It explores:
1) how journalists define humanitarian news
2) how news organisations fund the production of humanitarian news
3) the impact of funding models on humanitarian news content.
The project is a interdisciplinary, multi-institutional collaboration that draws on newsroom ethnography, interviews and content analysis.
Initial findings from the project have been presented at the Cardiff Future of Journalism conference (September 2015), and the Everyday Humanitarianism conference at LSE (April 2016).
