Accessibility statement for e:Vision
This accessibility statement applies to City, University of London’s e:Vision website (https://evision.city.ac.uk).
E:Vision is web interface to the student records system SITS provided by Tribal Technologies and is used by staff, students and applicants to view and update records.
This website (e:Vision – https://evision.city.ac.uk) is run by City, University of London. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible this website is
Our goal is for this website (e:Vision – https://evision.city.ac.uk) to be fully accessible and usable for all users regardless of ability.
The functionality provided in e:Vision comprises of a mixture of vendor (Tribal Technologies) provided functionality and functionality developed by City, University of London.
Tribal give assurances on AA compliance for those areas of the software for which they are responsible and follows ARIA recommendations to inform assistive technologies.
City’s own developments are now carried out with accessibility in mind and new features are thoroughly tested before being released, however older developments will be in need of updates to make them fully compliant.
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- E:Vision contains files which must be downloaded to be viewed. These are mostly Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word and these may not be fully accessible to screen reader software or constructed using accessibility features.
- Some images do not have alternative text
- There are some issues with from labels, headers and field.

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Not all images currently have alternative text
- Some link text doesn’t make sense when read on its own (for example it is titled ‘click here’)
- Some form label and fieldsets are not complete
- Some redundant title
- Some pages do not have the default language defined.
- Some of the content in e:Vision is in the form of PDFs and MS Word documents that often don’t meet accessibility standards.
Through the provision of workshops and online guidance, City encourages content creators to ensure that newly created content is fully accessible.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Some of the content in e:Vision is in the form of PDFs and MS Office documents that often don’t meet accessibility standards. For example, they may not be structured so that they’re accessible to a screen reader or may not contain navigation aids such as table of contents and links.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- Through the provision of training and online guidance, City is training its developers to ensure that newly created content is accessible and encourage business process owners to ensure that their PDFs and MSOffice documents are accessible.

This website (e:Vision – https://evision.city.ac.uk) was last tested in July 2020. The test was carried out by City, University of London.
We used the Siteimprove Accessibility Checker, Waves and NVDA screen reader on a sample of e:Vision pages.
Results are used to improve our compliance and to inform guidance for staff.
