Smart Learning published by the Media Enhanced Learning Group, is about teaching and learning with smartphones and tablets in post compulsory education. The book available in print, e-book and a free to download PDF, features 29 chapters in the form of Thought Pieces, Case Studies and Scenarios from various higher education staff.  I contributed the chapter entitled ‘Bring Your Own Device – policy and practice in higher education’ which discusses the various issues around bring your own device.

An important dimension of the book is its dual interest in both formal teaching and learning, and in how smart technologies are changing the way we engage with our university life beyond the classroom as academics and students.

You will find some great examples, tips and suggestions from institutions across the UK, of how smartphones and tablets (and the apps on these devices) are used in the classroom to enhance the teaching and learning experience. If you are looking for an up to date account of good practice in this area, or are interested in making better use of the devices your students have in their bags and pockets then this book is for you.
