1. Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research Annual Research Partnership Event
Our research centre is holding its 2nd Annual Research Partnership Event on November 11th between 4 and 7pm. We will showcase our research and its impact as well as present the important work of the Advisory Group. It is a great opportunity for you to hear more about the research we do and meet the researchers who do it. 3. Views sought on health visitor training
Our colleagues are looking at the best way to educate new health visitors/school nurses/district nurses for our community. Every five years these university programmes are reviewed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to ensure that they are fit for purpose. This is an opportunity to make any changes to the programme to make sure it is the best possible and that the practitioners who qualify are meeting the needs of the parents and patients in our community. In order to do this we would like to learn more about parents’ experience of health visitors in the local area.
Two meetings have been set up to discuss health visitor training;
Monday 16th November at 10 am
Monday 23rd November at 1pm
Each meeting will be approximately 1 hour long and held in the Myddelton Street Building on 1 Myddelton Street, EC1R 1UW. You will only need to attend one meeting. Payment is £15, plus travel is reimbursed up to £15. If interested, please contact Dr Val Thurtle, Programme Director, Tel: 020 7040 0360, Email: Val.Thurtle@city.ac.uk
If you are unable to attend a meeting but still want to be involved, there is an opportunity to comment upon the new course documents which outlines what the content of the programme is and how the students are taught. 4. Research participants sought
